Today has been busy…
But now I’m home from mailing some guild class samples AND my QuiltCon entry and I can finally sit down and catch up with all the other stuff…
January 7th was my mom’s birthday. She would have been 83 today. I think she might have enjoyed watching my latest DVD but she would have had lots of comments on what I could have done better… and of course, she would have been right… but I’ve watched it three times now and I have to say I’m very OK with it!!
Modern Machine Quilting: Free Motion, designed for all you “too timid to stitch” quilters out there or “tried it and didn’t enjoy it” quilters, or maybe “just want to be better” quilters.
When I started making quilt tops back in 1998 I realized that I needed to learn to machine quilt if I was going to be able to finish my quilts in a timely manner. I took lots of classes and did lots of practice. It takes practice people!! Just like driving a car, and 90% of Americans drive cars…
So, today marks the start of my blog hop. Each day for the next eight days one of my quiltie friends is going to be blogging about the DVD. They have sat and watched it in all its 79 minutes of edu-tainment glory and I’m hoping they’ll have something nice to say about it!!
I’ll be writing each day too, with a little about our quilting connection and also some pictures and such of the quilts shown on the DVD.
At the end of the eight days I’ll have a wrap up post. Each day you can comment at the end of my post and we’ll have a drawing at the end of the time for some fabulous prizes… DVDs of course, but also my favorite Stella task lamp donated by Stella lighting and Julia Wood’s wonderful new Hexie love ruler. (I really want one of those!!)
So, here’s the schedule.
And just in case you can’t wait to try and win one, of course the DVD is available at the Interweave Store right now. If you are really in a hurry a digital download could be on your very own computer in minutes if you so wish.
I hope you enjoy the hop. Please tell your friends so they can join the fun too!
What a stellar lineup of bloggers.
A great give away! Can’t wait to see the new DVD
I’ll be reading along – sounds a great line up – interested on the hexie love ruler.
I have watched the new DVD and loved it. Even encouraged me to sit down and try new stitches for a quilt I just finished piecing.
I can’t wait to do my blog post!
Wow! Great news about the DVD!
What an awesome blog hop!
I am in the “have to practice” group. Inspire me!
So interesting! I’ll be following along! : )

Oh I need to add this DVD to my collection, and the hex ruler looks interesting, I will have to take a look at it.
Looks like a great lineup of bloggers … I will enjoy flowing along
Looking forward to inspiration….an interesting hexie ruler…hmmm
So far, I have only straight-line quilted my projects. I am inspired to venture into free motion quilting in 2016. This DVD could help me take those first steps.
Wow beautiful sample.
I began machine quilting my own pieces about 5 years ago and I haven’t stopped. In December I finished a king-size wedding quilt for a family friend. They love it. I have a DC2010 Janome and the motor is a work-horse. I love it. I am contemplating looking into a sit-down quilting machine. Do you have any suggestions? If you know of any used ones for sale please let me know. Also, your DVD would be a wonderful addition to my free motion quilting library.
Elaine, There are lots of sit down mid arms available now. The best thing to do is try them out at a show where many manufacturers are represented. I love the BERNINA one of course! I’m sticking with my regular domestic machines for the time being.
Today, Fresh Lemon Quilts left you an amazing reference and because of that I cannot wait to try this DVD. I am hoping to take FMQ further this year. Thank you for the giveaway.
Read your blog all the time and I own your first DVD. I would love to own your second DVD also.

Fresh Lemons led me here and I’m so glad she did. Will start following your blog and beautiful work. Thanks!
After reading today’s Fresh Lemons blog post, I had to learn more about your DVD. I’m just getting back into quilting, after many years, and I’m so worried to begin the actual quilting on my 40 year old Bernina! In the past, I hand quilted everything, but I love how FMQ adds to the artistic nature of the quilt – if I can just do it! I cannot wait to get your DVD! I think watching someone over and over and over and over again might help me take the plunge! Thank you for your work on this!
Fresh Lemons mentioned your new book. It looks wonderful!

Bonnie sent me over, and of course I would love to have your DVD . I enjoy machine quilting and I find myself extremely proud when I can say “I did it all myself “. So many times I see beautiful quilts with exquisite quilting – but from someone else. I want to get better at it. I do not meañ the longarmers, are not doing wonderful work, they are. The lamp would be handy too, since I see mostly on vintage machines. Thank you for your hard work on the DVD, and for the opportunity to win.
Fresh Lemons is where I started my journey to your blog. I’m new to machine quilting… just bought a new sewing machine that would allow me to machine quilt. I’ve told myself that I would dedicate this year to making small projects (pillows and table runners) so I could focus on machine quilting skills. I hadn’t thought of making place mats, but I think that I’ll add those to my project list. Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of your DVD.
Looks like a great DVD! Love your work!
I am a very beginner at machine quilting and would love to learn more.
