Out and about and back again

Time to return to Madison! Last week was Quilt Expo and I arranged to meet Stephanie at Joanne’s house so we only needed to pay one parking fee ( and I wouldn’t need to drive around the one way system… )

I wanted to introduce Stephanie to the Sewcial Lounge before we went to the Alliant Center for the show. Only one u-turn and we were parked at a suitable meter.

It wasn’t too hard to find something we needed to get cut. Here are Sara and Stephanie hamming it up for the camera with the Lotta Jansdotter fabrics.

Purchases completed, we enjoyed lunch and then made our way to the Expo. We actually looked at the quilts before the vendors and guess what we found? There were a lot of quilts on display but we did finally spy my quilt, hanging in the Wall Quilts – applique, hand quilted category.

We met some very nice ladies who said some complimentary things and took the obligatory picture…

Quilt visited, shopping followed. We both made a few purchases. I bought a map panel to make an educational wall quilt for Benjamin…, a new Clover desk needle threader (surely now I will find the two I have lost?) and the new range of Marcia Derse petites prints. It all fitted quite nicely in one bag!

All of a sudden it was six o’clock and the show was closing. Time to go and pick up Joanne and get some dinner.

Next morning I got back in the car and had a fun day in Rockford playing with Benjamin and Ruby while Julia prepared for the big day…

Sunday was Ruby’s first birthday party. Here is the girl herself, all arrayed in her finest, complete with hat and enjoying her cake…

Before I set off on my travels I had noticed an interesting “something” emerging in the front yard. It had grown into a mighty fine fungus specimen by the time I got back. I needed a picture before it disentegrates…

And now it is time to stop playing and get on with something…

I finished this Bailey Island Hobo bag this morning…

Designed by Aunties Two it includes interior pockets and a snap closure. I added yo-yos instead of buttons on the outside to cover the snaps. We will be offering the class at Pieceful Heart Fabrics on November 17. Just in time to make a Christmas present for yourself or someone you love!

Meanwhile I have been working on a jelly roll quilt with a fun pieced backing. I am planning on getting back to that after a busy couple of days with Wendy Butler Berns and Riverwalk Quilters Guild. We are looking forward to her lecture tonight and workshop tomorrow. There’s always something to keep me busy!
