Just a day late to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Here’s some picture from the archives…
This,became this,
five years ago!
It’s been a while since I posted anything.
My aim is to blog two or three times a week but everything so often I just don’t get around to it, and then I don’t get around to it, and… before know it it’s been more than a week. That doesn’t necessarily mean that I have been sitting around doing nothing. It might, but actually I have been reasonably busy.
I went up to Itasca last Wednesday to visit the Quilters Guild there. They were meeting in the Fire Station because their normal gathering place was booked for something else. It took a while to find out how to get in but I did find them and here they are before we lowered the lights for my presentation.I took a picture from the other direction too, to make sure no one got left out! There’s always someone who refuses to pose for the camera?
It was my first run through of Language of Flowers as a Keynote lecture. I liked being able to include photos of flowers along with the quilts. Next stop will be Pride of the Prairie Quilters in December.
There was lots of show and tell. I particularly liked this wooly sheep with its little seasonal quilts.
The maker had bought the kit at Stitches and Stuffing so you have to know she’d had it a long time!
The webinar was on Friday. It went well. It’s a little weird talking into the air but I did it!! If you missed out and are now regretting not listening in I will have some news very soon on how you can still catch it…
What else have I been up to?
I’ve been working on a hexagon thing for a while. It’s not ready to show just yet. I need to get some more of the background fabric…
I’ve also been knitting. I still had shows that I recorded while I was in Houston and I needed to catch up. A little mindless but all done. Now I can move on to the Hallmark Christmas movies?
My sewing room was in a mess and I couldn’t get into the room where I keep all my traveling stuff… So in the spirit of “what gets done first is what gets done”, I tackled it on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yes, it was that bad! Then on Wednesday afternoon I celebrated by making something.
Here it is…
Any guesses?
I used a mini charm pack of Jasmine from Valori Wells and some of the fabric from the fat quarter stack I bought at Sample Spree.
Another view.
I love the camel fabric I put on the back and used as today’s featured image. It was such fun watching Valorie make prints at Market.
So what do you think I made? It’s for a Secret Santa thing I’m taking part in. Leave your guesses in the comments and I’ll let you know next time.
We went to Rockford yesterday and enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch with Matt and Julia and the children. We arrived in time for coffee and left before the traffic got crazy by the Outlets, so no cooking from me this time. Joanne came down for a few hours too. Benjamin was in charge of games. I think Julia was impressed that I joined in and managed not to get too upset when I didn’t win.
I’ve promised myself a quick shopping trip today as a reward for catching up here… I guess I could have gone out first but I haven’t and now I’m reasonably back on track? I might just call in and see if I can find the right cream/off white fabric for that hexie piece while I’m out?
And it’s all so good!
I’m guessing it’s a mug rug for hot tea or cocoa? ‘Tis the season!!
