It’s hard to believe that in just over two weeks I’ll be on my way home from Portland, Oregon. I’m sure we will all have had a great time at Quilt!Knit!Stitch!
I’m certainly going to have a very busy time. I have a full schedule of five classes and an Open Studios demo.
First up on Thursday 13th will be my Wrapped In Scraps! class that sold out in Chicago. I’ve ordered plenty of clothesline for everyone and I’m hoping that by the end of three hours almost all the students will be well on the way to finishing a super useful bowl to put things in…
In the afternoon we’ll slow down the pace for English Paper Piecing for Beginners. The kit contains everything, except scissors, that is needed. We’ll learn the basics of EPP, ready to go home and make whatever anyone might want to hand stitch… Millefiore anyone?
I’ll be sure to get an early night after all that excitement ready for Friday morning when we’ll start bright and early with an Introduction to Wool Appliqué. I’ll have the kits all ready, just scissors and a few bits and pieces required (you know I’ll have spares). We’ll start at the very beginning with tips and tricks to keep it simple!
I’m looking forward to getting a few hours to see the show on Friday afternoon. After all I’ve got a special exhibit of African Folklore Embroidery pieces. Everything was shipped a few weeks ago and I’m looking forward to seeing it displayed on the show floor.
I will be taking two hours to demo my Modern Machine Quilting techniques at Open Studios. We’ll see how I do with those spirals under the eagle eye of the watching crowds…
Friday evening you’ll find me at Scrappy Hour, two hours of fun, door prizes, appetizers, cash bar and creativity. It’s done by eight o’clock so I’ll be able to stay awake OK…
On Saturday morning I’ll be back in the classroom for my Exploration of African Folklore Embroidery class. I’ve got lots of kits for people to choose from so it’s very easy to sign up on the day as long as there’s still space.
My last class for this year is a new one for the show circuit, Happy Scrappy Improv Quilts. Again it’ll be easy to pull supplies together at the last minute. I’m supplying the one larger piece of fabric required and I’m sure we’ll all have plenty of scraps between us. The most important thing to bring to class will be a good attitude…
So, if you’re in the Portland area between the 13th and 15th of the month where better place could you think of to be? It’ll probably be worth making a special trip! I’ve got hundreds of my new pins to give away. Surely that will make it an unmissable event?
It’s too late to enroll for classes on line now but you can find all the details on the Quilts Inc. website and book in person at the Oregon Convention Center in downtown Portland starting the 12th. See you soon!
