Am I ready for Christmas?

That is a good question…

If you were to take a look in my studio, you would hope I had been doing something that was stopping me clearing up…

Going left at the bottom of the stairs…

Looking right isn’t a lot better…

So have I been getting ready?

I do have almost 500 1″hexagons basted ready to stitch together…

and sixteen 5″ log cabin blocks (made with 1″ logs cut from a Moda Cherry Christmas charm pack)…

But I made those because I was procrastinating on a project that does actually have a deadline.

I finally got to finishing the quilting on my entry in the 2013 African Folklore Embroidery Challenge. Now I just have to sew the binding down and add beads…

Just a teaser… I will post proper pictures when I am done.

So that’s what I’ve been doing!

Meanwhile, Sarah is ready for Christmas. She buckled down and finished her first ever quilting project, stockings for James and herself…

We adapted a pattern from Linda Lum De Bono’s book Sew Merry and Bright and used Riley Blake chevron fabrics from Gentler Times. They are a good size. I hope Santa fills them with some fun things.

But am I ready? Well ready or not, Christmas 2012 will be over in 5 days time. I have wrapped some presents (this morning) and put them under the tree (decorated by Julia and Matt at Thanksgiving). The house is clean (thanks to Alicjia). When Joanne comes with her Costco card we will go on a turkey hunt and there will be a reception committee at the airport for my dad on Tuesday at 1.20 pm. (OK dad?)

So, I guess we are ready enough. It’s a wonderful time of the year!

Merry Christmas everybody!!
