I’ve been a busy bee recently. I’m a woman on a mission!
Here’s a speedy run through of some of what I was up to last week…
I made a quick baby quilt. I used some fun fabrics from my stash including Cotton +Steel tigers and that imaginary road map.
With flannel on the back and some Quilters Dream wool batting in the middle it should be a cosy quilt.
I stitched this embroidery before I went away.
He needed a home so I made a background with the South African Shwe-shwe fabrics I bought in Portland. Yes, I know he is an Indian elephant… he has small ears.
I think he looks quite fine in his new surroundings!
The quilt is going to be a donation to the International Quilt Association’s silent auction at Quilt Festival in Houston. You’ll be able to see it there. You could bid on it and maybe take it home too?
James was the best man at his friend’s wedding last Friday and I went along to join the fun. Here he is, looking good with his wife Sarah. They’ve been married for more than three years already.
Meanwhile, Jonathan and Lauren had driven up from Tennessee. We hadn’t seen them for over eighteen months while they were in England.
We took full advantage of some super weather to spend most of Saturday outside. It was a Redford family reunion!
Here are the boys, just missing Joanne’s husband John who had to stay in Madison to work 🙁
and the girls…
Joanne brought Lindsey who evoked much amusement from Ruby…
We keep trying to fill in the shade garden under the trees. Julia brought some Hostas for us which James and Benjamin planted, with some help from Patrick.
Since we had the trees pruned we do have a little more sunlight in the yard but not enough to grow these…
They were the harvest of James and Sarah’s garden, heirloom tomatoes grown from plants bought from the Amish in Michigan.
The finished quilt was brought out to show…
and traded for some face paints which were put to good use… Flowers for Sarah,
Ruby Kitty Kat,
and Benjamin Turtle.
The fun went on in to the evening…
It was very quiet when everyone went home on Sunday afternoon.
I’ve been sewing again this week. Perhaps I’ll post some more pics tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing the great pics! Hope to see you soon!
I love your elephant and his surroundings! Nice pictures of your family 🙂
