Ten days in Southern California (so far)

Did you miss me?

It’s been 10 days since I left this behind…Five or six inches of snow at home.

I traded it for this…No snow AND warm in Southern California!!

I’ve been staying with Sheila and having too much fun.

We went down the hill to visit the Road to California quilt show twice. We went on Friday and checked out all the vendors. We knew it would be busy and it was. We went back Sunday and enjoyed the much slower pace. We were able to get up close to the quilts and get a good look!

Claudia Pfeil’s Fractal won best of show.

Deconstructed Doilies by Australian quilter Katherine Jones didn’t win any awards but we liked it.So pretty! If it’s the fourth week of January it must be quilt retreat time with the Inland Empire Quilt Guild.

We loaded up the car on Monday for the drive down to the nunnery in Temecula.
No hail storms this year.
Good food…

Roast chicken, home made ravioli, roasted brussel sprouts, and tasty beef tostadas.Just two of the meals all made from scratch, served with lots of fruit and vegetables, and desserts!!

Beautiful surroundings, and stunning sunsets.
Special friends! We were there to sew?

Here’s my work space.A bit messy?

I stitched on my butterflies for next month. Would you like a sneak peak?

A pink one…and a gold and crimson version…(They might actually be moths, but who’s telling?)

We drove home to Sheila’s on Thursday. Friday we went down to Orange and visited the Batty Lady, M and L fabrics in Anaheim and had lunch with Sheila’s daughter and youngest grandchild. Too much fun!

I was booked to teach my Walking Foot Quilting class  for the Inland Empire Quilters on Saturday. Were you thinking it was about time I did some work?

I didn’t take many pictures.

I did get this one of Kay and Connie at their machines. And here are two examples of student stitching.

Who doesn’t love a straight line? The only thing better are lots of straight lines? And how about these organic curves?Everyone worked hard. I hope there will be lots of walking foot quilting being shown in future show and tells.

So to today. Less than twenty four hours before I fly home tomorrow evening. The high was somewhere around 85 degrees Fahrenheit! It’s forecast to be 18 when I land in Chicago…

Oh well… I’m going to be busy Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m headed to Illinois Quilters Inc. in Wilmette on Thursday. No time to feel the cold and after all, I’ve been warm for ten days!

Catherine, I learned so much from your class and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Already have some ideas for placemats for Christmas. You have given me a reason to go shopping…like have I ever needed one before!

Such a wonderful trip you have enjoyed. I can almost feel that California heat but I’m speaking from under my warm throw as I watch a round of the Canadian Scotties Tournament of Hearts, our women’s curling championship. There are so many activities to enjoy in our world.
