Seen on the magazine rack…

I ventured into Jo-Ann‘s on Thursday, coupons at the ready…

It didn’t take long to find what I was looking for, basting needles, transfer paper, circle punch and a small thread display stand. Time to head to the register, past the magazines.IMG_3537It’s really weird to know that you have articles in two of those magazines… I had to work really hard not to tell everyone in line… seriously, pull yourself together Catherine!

First up is modern patchwork, fall edition

If you missed my article on Walking Foot Quilting that appeared in last year’s IQF Scene you’re not too late.  Here it is again, presented a little differently but still containing all my best tips…IMG_3548

Fun?

And the second magazine?

International Quilt Festival Quilt Scene 2015.

You know I love to collect quilt pins… I made a sash to put them on!IMG_3543

And now you can make one too.IMG_3539

It’s a really good magazine. There is a super preview of quilts from the show, including the special exhibits. Then there are some interesting articles, and of course there are great projects!

One project, Kapow! Quilt by Pamela Goecke Dinndorf, particularly caught my eye and I just had to take a break from my show preparation…

I am loving my new B 740. I cleaned and oiled it today before I started quilting my little quilt with my new favorite chrysanthemum motif.

I just made one block of  Pamela’s design, then added self colored borders and quilted it before adding the narrow blue accent strips and a white binding.IMG_3560

The background fabric is Emma’s Garden by Patty Slinger for Michael Miller.IMG_3563
Just a little bit of stitching bliss. All finished. I will get back to the suitcases tomorrow.

This time next week I’ll be IN Houston… I’ve got all my class kits made, my handouts are printed. I just need to decide which quilts to take as samples, which outfits will be most flattering and comfortable, and exactly how many pairs of shoes are required for a six day trip. I think it’s going to be a three suitcase (plus carry-on) expedition!
BTW, if you want a copy of either or both of these magazines and you don’t have a stockist near you, you can order them on-line in print or download the digital editions by clicking on the links…

How could you NOT tell everybody you were in the magazines?! And it’s like meeting a rock star for them. Win-win.
