What better way to celebrate teaching at Road than to head off to Temecula for four days of stitching with friends at the Vina de Lestonnac Retreat Center?
We loaded up Sheila’s car…
It’s less than an hour’s drive from Sheila’s home but we needed to make a stop at a quilt shop on the way! Primitive Gatherings has opened a Californian store since last year’s retreat so we made a little detour off the highway in Murrieta.Definitely worth a visit! There was a great selection of fabrics to choose from, all displayed beautifully making it easy to find what I was looking for, and just a few extras too… I bought the solids I had on my shopping list, and several charm packs just because…
We arrived at our destination in plenty of time for lunch so we were able to get sorted before we went up the hill to eat.
Sheila had brought everything she needed to get her space organized for her to get to some serious work. I was ready to spend four days with these views!I can’t show you pics of what I was working on but know that it involved lots of flying geese made the Quilt in a Day way…And just the odd glass of wine (after four o’clock!)…
The mid afternoon light on the hills was beautiful to behold. And I caught a couple of sunsets.
I mentioned friends? Here’s Kay and Sheila posing for a quick photo shoot on the way back from lunch. Notice the lemon trees in the background, full of fruit. We enjoyed lemonade with every meal!
Sheila made sure I stayed on track. We took meal breaks and made a quick trip out to Needle in a Fabric Stash (I needed more background fabric…) but I think I sewed for around thirty six hours between Tuesday after lunch and 3 PM Thursday…
Anyone would think I had some deadlines to meet!
Great pictures and yes it sounds like you have a deadline to meet.
