Friday started with an Introduction to English Paper Pieced Hexagons…
I provide kits for this class so feel free to admire the fabrics I included for the students!
We baste our hexagons old school and sew everything together by hand.
No sewing machines anywhere to be seen. Disappointing for some but not for others including two mother and daughter teams.
Number one pair…
and duo number two…
No wide angle shots, you’ll have to imagine the dozen or so students in the room!
There was a great turnout for Beginning Wool Appliqué in the afternoon.
It seemed like people were enjoying themselves on the right hand side of the room…
and over on the left hand side too!
Here are two students just beginning to stitch their piece.
We even tried some embroidery, working on french knots and bullion stitches amongst others.
Three hours wasn’t really long enough but everyone went away ready to keep stitching…
I packed the class room up and got ready for a change of pace.
Friday night was Iron Quilter Challenge night!!
The clock was set and we were off.
Kathy was on Debbie Caffry‘s team but I didn’t hold that against her!
Not everyone worked quite so hard. Gyleen Fitzgerald left her team at their machines to have some fun on the dance floor.
I was a Monkey Wench on Anita Grossman Solomon‘s team. Anita had us well organized with a pattern from her Make It Simpler line printed on vellum paper for pain free stitching and cutting.
We were first to finish with our four monkey wrench blocks set on point and some appliquéd wrenches satin stitched onto the center square.
But despite our best efforts we were not the winners and Debbie took him the golden iron.
We were gracious in defeat. There’s always next year?
Just one more day left to tell you about… two sold out classes…. check back tomorrow!!
