Fun times on Saturday … Machine Quilting 2 at Pieceful Heart Fabrics. There was a full class ready to take a risk and put their feed dogs down. Starting with wavy lines and writing our name we moved past stipples, loopy meanders with and without “extras”, mussel clusters, tortoise shells…. right through to basic feathers…
All experience levels, as many sewing machine makes as students and no tantrums! I forgot to get the camera out until near the end when people were playing at sewing around fabric designs (showing how quilting from the back can be a learning experience) but here they are…
This small circle of feathers proved challenging,
A clearly printed batik design makes for great practice,
A slightly larger scale feathered heart…
and a Laura Heine fabric I bought years ago and never got around to using…
I’m looking forward to future success from a new generation of machine quilters!
Tonight I’m off to the airport to pick up Leora Raiken who is our guest at Riverwalk Quilters this month. She’ll be speaking and teaching her particular brand of African Folklore Embroidery. I’m all prepared for my morning trip to the Gazebo Quilters In Huntley where I am doing a lecture/demo called “Wrapped in Scraps”. I’ve got a whole range of fabric coil pots ready to go. It’s good to keep busy.
