I didn’t have too far to travel for yesterday’s class at Quilters Quest but I set off early because I knew it was going to be a busy day in the shop. I was right. For today’s featured image I have the line outside twenty minutes before opening. All those people were not there for my class… QQ was holding a storewide 50% off sale in honor of Deb’s big birthday!
I was there for a machine quilting workshop, booked back in April with this fun description…
“Does the idea of putting your feed dogs down give you palpitations? Have you tried free motion quilting before and just not enjoyed the experience? Or are you new to it all and want to start out with a smile on your face? Join this class to learn how to add free motion quilting designs to your class and keep breathing. We’ll start by drawing our designs and stitch our way through a variety of all over fillers, finishing with fabulous feathers. A great class for beginners or a confidence booster for the hesitant. Go home ready to get those quilts quilted!”
It did the trick and we had a full class ready to learn.
We started with a little show and tell from our Walking Foot class. Straight lines…
and organic curves.
Beautiful!
Then it was time to put our darning feet on, our feed dogs down and set off…
with at least the hint of a smile on our faces!
Doodling and stitching was the order of the day.
Meanwhile, out in the store, the shopping continued…
Not that there wasn’t a little stash being built in the classroom!
Some people decided it was time for a chat…
I’m sure it was quilting related…
But mostly the motors kept on humming.
New stitches were learnt, new friends were made. Time to go home and practice!
