I promised you a recap of this year’s Iron Quilter Challenge?
For a complete unbiased view you would be better off reading Patricia Belyea’s blog post here but if you want my side of the story?
It all started with a selection of prints and batiks from Marcus Fabrics…a fun loving team, armed with an iron, two machines,an assortment of rotary cutters and rulers and a plan 🙂
Kelly and Sheila were back on the team from last year, but Michelle and Bernadette were new to Redford’s Racers.
We cut, stitched, and pressed.
The first block appeared.More stitching and pressing led to more blocks.Bob came around to distract with quips and questions…Two hours for six teams to make six quilt tops from their fourteen half yards while entertaining the crowd, who now gathered to see the finished results. We revealed our homage to Houston…and left it on the stage next to Gyleen’s team’s quilt while everyone voted.
We did our best but in the end it wasn’t to be…
Pam’s Possums won with their delightful fused giraffe.
Never mind!
There’s always next year?
(Do you think the Astros’ win in the World Series Championship had anything to do with our quilt?)
Hmm, interesting pick by the crowd. I really would have picked your groups’ star top. Very beautiful and my favorite. I went to the other website to see all the creations. Wow, some very talented gals and in such a short amount time!! Way to go everyone.
I too liked yours better, much more work involved.
This just looked like a whole lot of fun. Great to have the opportunity to participate with a team. Happy for all of you!
.
I’m sure your quilt was a part of the Astro’s fantastic win Catherine!!
