Our quilt bee was drawing to a close yesterday afternoon when I got a call on my cell phone. I didn’t recognize the number but I thought I’d better answer it anyway. Most times I don’t even hear my cell phone, let alone find it in time to answer it so that was an unusual occurrence in itself…
The next few minutes were the most surreal phone call I have had in a while. A nice lady (sorry I missed her name) informed me she was calling from the AQS show in Des Moines. Judging had just finished and my quilt Imperial Blooms had taken third place in its category… I barely stopped myself asking her if she was sure she hadn’t made a mistake and stammered out my thanks and joy at the news.
The news went public this morning on the show web site.
Now I get to wear a special winner’s ribbon on my name tag when we visit the show on Friday. I am so excited!!
Congratulations, is this first you have won a prize at a quilt show?
You do beautiful work and I’m glad you being recognized for it.
Nice work! It’s no mistake, you are a great quilter! Congratulations my friend.
OH Catherine, that is such amazing news! The AQS show is the premier exhibit of quilts and to place 3rd is such an honor! 10,000 congratulations and a*woot* *woot*!!
Well done Catherine!
Congratulations, Catherine, for doing so well at AQS Des Moines! I made a note on my program while viewing quilts to let you know how much I enjoyed your piece. In fact, make it one of the pieces on the PAQA web site!!! Well worth the honor.
Hope to see you in November,
Mary
