After a busy, busy week I packed up my bags last Saturday and set off on a bit of a jaunt…
When we went to Walt Disney World seventeen years ago Animal Kingdom hadn’t been built and I’ve had it on my list of places to visit for a while, so when the opportunity arose…
I managed to find a friend. Here’s Amber and I, waiting for the plane to find a gate in Orlando.
We were ready for an adventure!
We’d booked a room at the lodge so that we’d be ready for an early(ish) start in the morning. Our room had a view!
It wasn’t Amber’s first trip to Animal Kingdom and she had our day planned. We started with a safari.
We saw lions,
zebras,giraffesand flamingos
and lots more from our front row seat in the jeep.
What fun!
We enjoyed the Lion King show and Finding Nemo – the Musical but we passed on the water ride through the rapids…Disney makes such a good job of making the surroundings feel “real”. I took lots of pictures.
Here are the prayer flags in the Asian area. I love the colors against the beautiful blue sky…And yes. I met Micky!
It was a very good day!
We were actually in Orlando to work at a church conference so that’s where we headed on Sunday evening. I go as a volunteer and you know it’s hard to control some volunteers… but I mostly did what I was told.
I kept thinking I was in California because of the palm trees.
But there were no mountains and it was not a dry heat!
Now I’m home. It’s time to get back to work. It was a good week but now I need to refocus…
Good job, Catherine! I’m sure you were a perfect volunteer.
