Thursday evening found me back at Pieceful Heart Fabrics for a Beading Basics class…
We tried lots of different stitches, working on little samplers and generally having a good time learning how to add beads to our quilts!
I am supposed to be working on the quilt display part of our Guild quilt show which is coming up very soon… and I have lots of piles of pictures and handwritten notes to show for all the hours I have put in so far… but every now and then I do need to stop and just make something…
When I was at QuiltCon in February I took some pictures of a quilt made by Beth Copeland from The Houston Modern Quilt Guild.
I really liked the arrangement of half square triangle blocks in her quilt Lucky and wanted to try them out for myself. I had been keeping a mini charm pack of Malka Dubrowsky’s a stitch in color collection in my drawer for an occasion such as this… I added a half yard of one of Marcia Derse’s modern textures and five hours later I had a little quilt, all quilted, bound and finished!
It finishes at around 14″ by 17″ (Those are one and a half inch squares). I’m calling it let’s fly! It sort of reminds me of the geese in the sky?
Now it’s back to those piles of quilt pictures… I happen to have a Quilter and Child class at PHF tomorrow afternoon so that’ll be another welcome distraction for me.
I love the look of this quilt!!
Hey! Thanks for shout-out! And I love your mini & really the gold with the Stitch in Color.
Glad you like it! I have new appreciation for all those half square triangles!
