I headed north to Janesville, Wisconsin on Tuesday to give my Trip Around the World in Folk Art Stitches to the Rock Valley Quilters.Fun times.
Julia came with me as I don’t like driving home at ten o’clock at night. I stayed overnight at her house in their newly finished basement. I don’t know what she had told the children because they let me wake up in my own time… There was no school on Wednesday so I hung around for a while.
Benjamin cooked breakfast.Ruby entertained with her first tune on her new recorder.
She’s using Julia’s book. We’ll see how it goes!
We had a trip planned to go to England leaving yesterday… it has been postponed to January due to Steve’s unexpected work commitments. That means I have a whole extra week with nothing organized. We began with a very quiet Thanksgiving, not for lack of invitations…
I have started a new project. You might know that I get my hand dyed threads through Global Artisans and that I recently worked on a series of paisley designs that will be available shortly? There will also be a series called Images of Africa by a South African artist that we are aiming to get kitted up for purchase. I’m stitching the designs out on some colorful batiks from Turtle Hand.
I completed the tortoise yesterday.Mostly chain stitch with cross stitch, fly stitch and satin stitch details.I’m not sure when the patterns will be available on the website but in honor of the season there is a site wide sale through the end of next week. It is 20% off everything. If you have been tempted to try the thread, or just need to stock up, this might be a good week to do it?
I’m going to try and make the most of my bonus week by spending time in my sewing room 🙂
