Always fun, all the time?

Friday evening found me in unfamiliar surroundings…

with lots of paperwork to complete…

Someone looked happy?

The job got done and Sarah and I had a bit of fun on Facebook keeping everybody guessing for a few hours… it’s interesting to find out who thinks what and what their reaction might be… yes Sheila…

Anyway on Saturday morning I put everyone out of their misery with a picture of my re-pierced ears courtesy of Kivaka, a professional body piercer who hangs out inside a tattoo parlor on the Farnsworth Road.

And so, Saturday morning. It was raining.

Big puddles, standing water type of rain…

But our intrepid teacher knew she had a full class of students booked at Quilters Quest so she packed her little car and braved the weather… and survived the drive!

Nine of the eleven students showed, along with another one who made ten, so we had a great group, ready to put their feed dogs down and have some fun in Machine Quilting 2.

The idea is that I don’t talk too much and everyone spends the time sewing. That was somewhat true.

If you want to wear gloves you may.

In fact, any magic tools are welcome!!

We had a good time. The students wrote complimentary comments on their assessment forms and it had stopped raining by the time we got to go home…

The proof is in the quilting!

On Thursday I received an unexpected package in the mail. The return address looked familiar. Inside was a true blast from the past!!

A long time ago, in another time and place, I did a lot of counted cross stitch and stitched sweatshirts were very popular. My dear daughter Joanne, needing to keep her mother gainfully employed, designed a design for her to add to a garment… Here’s a close-up of the very multi-cultural (for Naperville…), all inclusive little girls she drew!! I am thinking this was fourth grade? (age 10)

Joanne wore her sweatshirt a lot. It even went to Disney World with her, and was included in a very special picture. (which has been on the refrigerator ever since the trip)

Anyway, I guess there comes a time when one grows out of mummy-embroidered clothes and Joanne had passed the sweatshirt onto her best friend’s little sister who also wore it lots. But Lily is now a Senior at college… so Kendra parceled the top up and sent it home! What do you think Joanne? Might you squeeze into it on the farm one day?

I’ll be keeping it safe.

Meanwhile, my orange quilt is coming along and I have an interesting wool appliqué piece basted… The fun just keeps on keeping on.
