What a mixed bag! It’s been an interesting week. It seems months since Christmas. I guess I’m used to January and February being quiet but they haven’t been this year…
I said I’d post pictures of the quilt I made on retreat. This is my Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge piece, 16 bricks. A simple name for a straightforward quilt.
and a close-up…
I tried to find solids that would showcase the prints we were given. The colors in the photographs aren’t quite true. (The blue is more teal than it looks here.) I have decided it is easier to start the spiral with the free motion foot and then switch to an open toed foot of some description… I also decided I need a better table for retreats so I am looking forward to the arrival of a SewEzi table on Tuesday…
Last weekend was pretty chaotic. It started with the arrival of Jonathan and Lauren, closely followed by Sarah and Patrick.
Patrick needed a pic with Lauren.
James was working so he turned up at 11pm…
Saturday I went shopping with the daughters in law while Jonathan and his dad worked (?)
It snowed.
On Sunday, Matt and Julia and the children joined the fun, closely followed by John and Joanne. Jonathan and Benjamin had a serious discussion around the iPad while I cooked lunch.
Jonathan’s job is taking Jonathan and Lauren to England for a year so we all needed to say farewell. A family photograph had been taken at Christmas so there was no chance of another one…
Suffice to say, it was quiet on Sunday evening after everyone had left!
Tuesday was Riverwalk Quilters’ guild night. Cheryl Sleboda was our speaker and she was great! I know how hard it is to speak to your own group but it didn’t put her off one bit. We all learnt a lot and I heard some very nice comments. Go Cheryl!!
Here she is discussing the construction of her quilts.
and talking to Sandy about her little Downton Abbey quilts.
I’m off to Quilters Quest for a Machine Quilting 2 class this morning. It’s sunny at the moment so perhaps we’ll dodge the snow for once?
