Time flies when you’re busy… or perhaps I’m just getting old?
In just two days I’ll almost be in Austin for QuiltCon. I’ve still got some packing to do but first I needed to get my samples ready for the Sew Many Places Caribbean Cruise!
My threads arrived Thursday. Of course I was out when the mail man tried to deliver my parcel of fair trade hand dyed threads from House of Embroidery so I had to make a trip to the main Post Office…
It was worth the drive. I now have two samples to show. First is one made with the basic set of five colors each student will receive. (They’ll also get the printed panel, a stitch sheet and suitable needle.)
I added the dark pink borders and quilted it with some waves and pebbles.
Close-ups of the fish and sea horse,
and the starfish.
My second sample makes use of the extra box of sixteen threads I’ll have available.
I added a few extra stitches into the mix on this one.
Spoonflower makes a great job of printing my designs. I’m dreaming up some new ones ready for some basic embroidery samplers. In honor of QuiltCon I’ll be adding some Modern ones into the mix!
I am so looking forward to going outside without my padded coat and gloves…
It’s been a little cooler than usual down here but 50/60 is better than what you are having at home but you might want to pack a jacket?
And it’ll be in the 80s in Jamaica 🙂
Catherine, I really enjoyed doing the panel from the November cruise! Let me know if you have any extra kits as this one is neat and would love to stitch it up (would also love to go on the cruise and leave the cold and snow, but such is not to be!)
I’ll be sure to let you know. I made plenty…
I can’t wait to see your Modern designs. That should be fun!
