I’m a bit slow in getting to the computer this week. I am working on a piece to enter in QuiltCon if that’s any excuse…
Back to Paradise Sewing last Tuesday morning ready for a complete change of pace from the machine quilting the day before …
After a short demo everyone got to their wool appliqué, choosing fabrics from their kit boxes to cut and stitch down.
I always offer lots of color choices for my students and it can take a long time for some people to choose their favorite. But somehow this time it seemed like the cooler temperatures (for San Diego!) led to a definite bias towards the fall flavors…
The morning was spent tackling the appliqué before everyone started to add some embellishment in the afternoon.
Stem stitch and lazy daisy…
And all sorts of everything on this one…And just like that the class was over and it was time to pack up once again!
On Wednesday I was booked for Embroidery and Beading for Quilters. We tried some embroidery stitches on the printed samplers. The weaving and wrapping techniques led to some interesting results! We opened up our bead packets in the afternoon ready to stitch on to the quiltlets included in everyone’s kits. Time to smile…
We talked about how to sew beads on so they don’t come off and then tried seed stitch, some different ways of making lines, and daisy stitch…
then stacks and dangles! We also tried some edge treatments but everyone had packed up before I remembered I was supposed to be taking pictures…
Two fun days of workshops.
I just had one more adventure before I came home. There will be pictures… very soon!
