Shoe Shopping at Quilt Shows

I have been very busy stitching like a mad woman the past week and all will be revealed soon. Suffice to say I have piles of hexagons, yo-yos and embroideries in various stages of completion threatening to take over the house…

I am off to Greenwood, Indiana tomorrow to share my Safari through African Folklore Embroidery with the members of the Quilt Connection Guild. I have my bags nearly packed and my route mapped out so all is looking good.

That means I will be missing the Madison Quilt Expo this year. I have enjoyed the show the last few years but I guess sometimes we just have to make choices?

So, thinking about that I started thinking about my show shopping habits… My priorities certainly seem to have changed the last few years. I do not come home with yards of fabric any more. Maybe that’s because my stash has grown over the years and has almost reached critical mass…? Joanne could explain that one perhaps?

Now I look for other things. My favorite purchase might seem a rather unlikely one but it has to be my shoes…

These come from the Shoe Guys. I am now onto my second and third pair! My first pair were pink “snakeskin” and I wore them until the bottoms were nearly worn off. I can walk miles in them, they don’t rub and they always fit! I replaced that first purchase with a new pair in “plain” pink that I ordered in Houston.

When I saw Laurie at Quilt Festival in Chicago she told me they they had found a source of lime green leather. I knew I needed to add them to my wardrobe! I told her that one day I would blog about them but I don’t think she believed me…

I can even get my toes painted to match the pink ones. (I don’t like green nail polish quite so well)

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of your own toes from the front if you are me?

No new quiltie pictures today. They will be coming soon but a quick shout out to my favorite shoe guys!

Love this! I was disappointed that the bus trip to Madison was a no go! Oh well, see you soon.

It’s always wonderful to have new shoes and I definitely approve! The toes are an added bonus. Have a great trip to Indy, and sorry we missed Madison.
