So this dumpster is the reason for it all… We have got rid of our baggage and now we can move on? Joanne and I have been clearing up and now there are no excuses for anything.
Nearly two weeks ago we had the Tropical Hibiscus class at Pieceful Heart. We started with Norine’s show and tell. She had brought her finished X-blocks quilt, all quilted and bound…
Then we got to work. We started with beautiful fabric palettes,
After 5 hours, including lunch… there were some lovely flowers beginning to bloom,
I made this little piece with some of the leaves and left over background squares from my sample… I started it last time we did the class, just adding the quilting this time.
I like the red dots. They need some edge stitching and then it just needs some binding and it can go in the small quilt auction at Riverwalk Quilters.
Paintstick Superstars was next up. We used Laura Murray”s StarBuilder rubbing plates to make some fabulous stars…
Here’s Nancy hard at work on hers. I love the light background.
and Deb’s under construction,
Deb brought hers back all ready to quilt…
She had very kindly volunteered to be Joanne’s mom for the afternoon in the Quilter and Child class. Here they are ready to start…
We were making Dizzy Squares from Super Simple Quilts#3 from C&T Publishing. Everyone worked hard, taking care with their pressing,
sewing,
with accurate 1/4″ seams.
We finished our quilts pillowcase style, turning them right side out once they were sewn all the way round…
They went home ready to tie and finish. Fabulous work everyone (including the moms and grandmas).
Joanne got straight onto hers and finished it…
Then. as if a quilt wasn’t enough she used some of her leftovers to make two matching pillows.
Do we have a new quilter in the family?
On Tuesday she escaped. Joanne has now officially moved to Madison. We drove three cars up there with almost all of her stuff. She’s living two blocks away from the State Capitol and the shops.
It’s an interesting city, and only 148 miles or 2 hours and 20 minutes away…
