Reality in the sewing room

I’m off out to Quilters Quest this morning to teach a Machine Quilting 2 class… free motion quilting for all -for when you want to do something besides the walking foot stuff!

But before I go I thought I’d post a couple of pics of what my studio/sewing room really looks like when I’m in the middle of a few projects.

At this end I have a quilt back taped down on my cutting table and the pressed top is waiting for the batting (draped on the chair) to be put on top so I can pin baste. My hexagon quilt is rolled up waiting for the last few rows sometime in the future.

By the sewing machine a bowl of safety pins is sitting from my last project. The Stella light is positioned for maximum effectiveness. White Aurifil thread on the orange spool is left from piecing all those friendship stars.

A new pile of fabrics for my next project but one is perched on the edge of the table. My IKEA cart (in pink) is within reach with all my most used tools. Do you notice the ironing board is clear? That’s because I never know when Steve might need to pop in and iron a shirt… In fact he must have used it last because my Oliso iron is on its heel and all us quilters know that it doesn’t need to be.

I don’t mind too much because the same Steve just carried all my stuff for class downstairs for me without me asking. He’s going to have a quiet day today… until James shows up to carry on painting the dining room! I do have a wonderful family – for real!

Picture at the top? The back of my quilt before pressing. I did get it much flatter before I taped it down on the table, honest!
