I finished the hand stitching on a little English Paper Pieced hexagon project last night.
I took all the basting stitches out, cut away the background fabric and removed the papers. I like the way it all looks before pressing…
But then a good hard iron comes along and look what happens!
All neat and tidy with sharp corners.
I used a mini charm pack of Lakeside Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings for Moda on a background of Essex Linen from Robert Kaufman fabrics.
I really enjoy the challenge of using every piece in the pack in a pleasing design. There were 42, 2 1/2″ squares for this one. I have some ideas for the quilting but that’s not going to happen today!
When I went into my sewing room this morning the iron was on and a shirt was waiting on the ironing board. I put the shirt to one side and made the most of the hot iron…
but then I relented or I had a mad moment(?) and I ironed the shirt.
That doesn’t happen very often in this house so it deserves documenting when it does!!
I’m off to Rolling Meadows tonight to give a lecture at the Northwest Suburban Quilt Guild. We’re going On Safari with African Folklore Embroidery. My bags are almost packed…
