It’s been a busy week at home.

I said I would share some of the things I have been making since I arrived home last Monday. It’s been fun…

How about some new buttons? I came home with a set of personalized looms and set to work with some hand dyed 3 weight perle cotton, a darning needle and a bit of fluff…Weaving in progress,And tada!A set of completed Yorkshire buttons. Steve is from Yorkshire but he never made them in his childhood. They have an unknown provenance but aren’t they cute? And they can be made in all sizes and colors, using different size looms and threads.

Ready for some more buttons? I’ve had several kits for making covered buttons in my drawer for a few years. Time to get them out…Different size buttons, a variety of fabrics, and lots of embroidery stitches make for a nice collection of pretty things!

But that’s not all! I’ve been extending my Dorset Feather Stitchery stitching for a band that can be used as an edging, including repeats and corners for all the things! Here’s a corner,Today’s featured image is part of an 18″ band I made.

Not too shabby for a week’s work?

There is more.

I have also been down in the basement workroom packing up kits for AQS Daytona Beach. These two boxes started on their journey this morning. Over 50 pounds of stuff… And this time I even made a list of the contents before I sealed them 🙂I had a pedicure booked as a reward for all that work. I do love sitting with my feet in the warm water.

All went well until I went back to my car… Yes that’s my little Toyota Yaris being towed…
It’s 15 years old but I am hoping it can be fixed fairly easily. It’s stick shift and the handbrake broke. Not good! AAA came out in less than 20 minutes and took the car to the garage. Steve picked me up and I went on with my day. Just a hiccup in my morning!

You might wonder why I’m so bright and cheery? Well, I’m headed out of town tomorrow morning… I’m not sure what chance I’ll have to  post from where I’m going but I know it’s going to be warm and sunny!

And if you want to learn how to make those buttons or embroider a pretty band of Dorset Feather Stitchery? There will be news of new online classes coming soon!

  2. Could we see the back of the Yorkshire buttons? I’m wondering if you take them off the loom or if loom is a permanent part of the button.

Yes, you take them off the loom before stuffing and sewing tight.
