It really is the journey!

It took a little longer than I expected to finish my “Poppy Quilt”…

When I saw the cover of Flower Show Quilts by Lynn Ann Majidimehr (That Patchwork Place) I wanted one!! After deciding that it would make a wonderful class and setting the dates with Gina I was committed to the creative process…

And now it’s done. The background was straightforward enough, 24 hourglass units with sashing and 2 borders. The flowers were fun to make… it all just took a while and several trips to Pieceful Heart for more fabric! I used my favorite Pellon Legacy wool batting and added 12 hours of quilting before sewing on the orange binding. I like it. I hope potential students like it too…

I reminded myself several times “it’s about the journey…” but in this case reaching the destination was very satisfying!

I’m still working on a sampler for my Embroidery for Quilters class. It’s nearly finished. I have a couple of movies on the dvr ready to watch so there should be more pictures soon.

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it. It was difficult to pick just one project from your book. I’m hoping to get at least one more made this spring. Flowers are my favorite subject for a quilt, particularly when it’s cold and grey outside!
