In Northbrook with the North Suburban NeedleArts Guild.

I just drove 35 miles or so to Northbrook for my first engagement of the year. The North Suburban NeedleArts Guild were a friendly bunch!

Here they are after taking a trip around the world with me! And looking in the other direction…Of course there was show and tell. Barbara Wisnoski had been at the guild in November and these pieces were a result of her two day class. So was this one,…and this pillow.
I think I would have liked that workshop!

I stayed up in the area ready for my workshop on Wednesday and Thursday. We had two whole days to explore some wool appliqué, dimensional embroidery and beading.

The class was full and included some familiar faces. There were some fun stitching results.

Beautiful french knots,Super drizzle stitches, and wonderful buttonhole loops. Most people worked on my little flowers pattern, making it their own…But some people did their own thing! It was really good to have two days. It gave us lots of stitching time, without the pressure to get everything done in six hours that we sometimes feel in the one day workshop.

I had some copies of my butterfly pattern, adapted for wool appliqué. I think it works?I’ll be adding the wool cutting and placement diagrams to the Year of Butterflies button next week.

How is your embroidery going? I’m afraid the light in my hotel room was not very good and I left my Stella light in the workshop overnight so I am making very slow progress on mine…

The traffic coming home was dreadful! It took a whole two hours to get back, and I didn’t feel like doing much yesterday evening.

Today I unpacked my bags, did the laundry and repacked for a trip to the Friendship Star Quilt Guild in Cary, Illinois tomorrow. I’m definitely back to work with a vengeance 🙂

I had a wonderful time learning from you, stitching and chatting! Having the extra day made all the difference in being able to relax and feel more confidence in my stitches, since you were right there when I hit a (literal) snag! What a fun class!
