Remember that quilt I started last week?
I cut and sewed carefully, setting them out on the design floor to arrange them, pressed carefully and basted with lots of safety pins, quilted using the even feed system on my BERNINA 740 in a one inch grid, moving the needle across so I could follow the seam lines with the edge of my 20D foot.
I finished it yesterday morning! I don’t make as many quilts as I used to and I was unreasonably pleased with myself when I’d trimmed the final threads from sewing the binding down and I could declare it done…
My dad flew in last night and Julia and the children are here today. Time to set them to something useful and take a few pictures… (They are down at the swimming pool right now 🙂 )
I know it isn’t exactly an artistic masterpiece but I like it! Twenty blocks, 40″ x 48″.
I used a piece of the co-ordinating Kaffe Collective collection for the back. I think I bought this piece in Golden last year. I love those birds!Yes, it was Julia holding the quilt…How about Ruby and Benjamin step into the frame?
They found it easier to hold the quilt the other way on!
It made an excellent cloak…But really a quilt is for snuggling…It doesn’t have a home yet. That’s OK with me. The joy was really in the journey. It’s good to find that I do still like making quilts…
Feels good to finish a quilt. Looks like the kids loved it too.
Congratulations are definitely in order! Great job … you’ve certainly got the color going. I love it!
Congratulations on your finish! Love all the color in this little quilt, including the back!
What a fun quilt and great little models. Would look perfect on the back of a lawn chair or porch swing.
I love your design floor! The quilt really is wonderful in just it’s simplicity; it will be a great snuggle quilt.
