Saturday morning came around, as mornings tend to, bright and early…
Here’s the view out of my bedroom window before I headed downstairs for another fun-filled day!
There was a full roster for the morning’s class, Wrapped in Scraps. After a brief introduction to the machines and the technique everyone set to stitching.
Bowl bases quickly appeared under the needle of the hard working students.
It was time for another demo.
I split the class into two so everyone could get a close look. Tammy, our class room machine attendant took some pictures.
I’m obviously saying something very important here…
before I started turning the sides on my bowl!
And guess what? It worked!
Like magic, corners were turned and bowls were appearing everywhere.
Jo went home with a completely finished bowl.
Go Jo!
I spent a quiet lunch hour in the education office because I knew the afternoon class for Walking Foot Quilting was full too.
Here are the ladies on the left side of the classroom,
and here are the ladies on the right.
The tablecloths got pushed back because it’s easier to baste straight on the table.
Quilting certainly takes a lot of concentration.
That’s where the pictures end. We kept going right up to five o’clock, finishing with a spiral.
Spiralicious indeed!
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the people that made my three days go so well… all the Quilts Inc. staff and volunteers, the students who came to my classes, some appeared more than once (can you spot them in the pictures?), the quilt angels who looked after the irons, attendance sheets and class evaluations, Anita Grossman Solomon who inspired me to do better every time I saw her, other faculty members who hung out with me in the education room and my good friend Cheryl Sleboda who co-curated the PAQA exhibit with me and made sure I got home safely on Saturday evening. I know I’m missing all sorts of people out, but if you were there and you smiled at me… Thank you!
And can you believe, in just a few months I get to do it all again at Quilt!Knit!Stitch! in beautiful Portland, Oregon?
I’m living the dream!
The bowls are so pretty! Looks like everyone was having a great time!
Thanks Nadine. The bowl class is always a good one.
