After the holiday weekend was over…

But before we went away…

I put together this little quilt top with the Riley Blake Willow  by My Minds Eye fat quarters I bought last year. Just 2 1/2″ strips pieced with a yellow strip and cut at 4 1/2″ and put together on point. I’m afraid I was too lazy to calculate what I needed to do at the top and bottom edges so they will get trimmed once it’s quilted…

DSC03868I think it will make a super baby quilt. I have some soft grey flannel ready for the backing.

On Thursday evening there was Naperville Modern Quilt Guild.

Svetlana brought her basket quilt to show us.DSC03874

Everyone seemed happy to look at it!

I brought our banner I have been quilting. Faith sent the logo she designed to Spoonflower and had it printed out. It is huge! About 96″ long by 36″ wide.

DSC03878I am hoping to get it finished by the Rosemont Show where we will have our log cabin quilts on display in a special exhibit.

Friday morning we set off for Nashville. It is a long way! We drove down I-57 and I-24 which goes right by Paducah but we didn’t have time to stop. Another time perhaps?

Most of the weekend was spent eating and drinking but after brunch on Saturday morning we did fit in a trip to the Parthenon.

Here I am with Jonathan and Lauren.

DSC03890Then we sat in the sun and enjoyed live music in Centennial Park. 78 and sunny was a whole lot nicer than the weather we had left behind.

Next we sat in the sun on the roof terrace at Lauren’s condo…

Here’s Steve enjoying a beer with the city as a backdrop.

After dinner we visited Honky Tonk row with the requisite visit to Tootsies…

DSC03901Too much fun.

We were a little more sedate on Sunday with a trip to College Grove to meet Lauren’s parents and then an amble around downtown Franklin where Steve found a cannon to pose with…

DSC03905I’m not quite sure what he thought he was doing but the sun was still shining…

We drove home yesterday through a storm. I was very glad not to be driving.

So now we are home. I have a list of projects to finish before our UK trip at in less than four weeks. I am going to have to keep my head down to get everything finished. As Steve might say “It’s going to be hard but I can do it”…?

The holiday is over.
