Modern Machine Quilting DVD Blog Hop: Day Two

When I was asked to go on the cruise last month I was so excited to hear that Bonnie Hunter was going to be one of the teachers I would be working along side. Everybody knows Bonnie for her super warm personality, scrappy quilts and Quiltville!

We didn’t get much time to hang out because we were kept so busy.

Here’s Bonnie’s signing a block for one of the cruisers. Maybe I should have waited until she looked up!

And here are Bonnie and Kim Diehl with me at the farewell cocktail hour. I’m sure I was pontificating on something very important!!

Bonnie has such a packed schedule that I feel very honored to have her preview my DVD and be part of my blog hop. Pop over to her website and see what she has to say.

Don’t forget I am giving away a DVD to one lucky reader who posts a comment on my blog by Christmas Day. You won’t want to miss a single stop!

Sunday, December 21st:  Laura Wasilowski

Hi Catherinreford! I was reading Bonnie Hunter’s post and she was sharing how great your technique is using a walking foot for quilting. Like Bonnie my first quilt was stitches in and out of the ditch with a walking foot. Now I’m here doing my third quilt with Bonnie having a blast learning so much. I am intrigued by your photos from this post on your quilting and am looking forward to seeing your video! Happy quilting it’s so addicting!

Oh, my! 594 comments as i got to Bonnie Hunter’s blog post that led me here! Well, Catherine, I would LOVE to be the winner of your DVD, as I recently moved, but just weeks before that I’d obtained a waling foot for a new-to-me vintage machine so I could begin flexing my creativity with machine quilting. I only had time to attach the foot and take a couple stitches to verify it fit, before packing up the machine, and all my sewing room. My new sewing room is not yet in good working order since the move, but that is my New Year’s project so I can delight in sewing through the cold winter days in Central PA. I suspect your DVD would help me avoid bad habits and get me off to a very good start! Would LOVE to be your winner!!! Thanks for the tip Bonnie! Lydia C. lwlmwc@yahoo.com

Bonnie sent me as well! would love to do more than just straight line and long gentle curves with my walking foot. Bought all sorts of free motion quilting feet for my older viking, and can’t get the feed dogs to drop correctly and then engage the thread to use them! so unless I can come up with about 150 per quilt to have it professionally done, mine are simple, with some combination of walking foot and ties! I have no hope of winning, so you’ll see me back purchasing after Christmas! meantime, I have a Tula Pink pattern I fell in love with for my friend’s baby quilt that I have to work on, sigh! Next try is with my singer 301, hee hee!

I just read about your video on Bonnie’s blog. How awesome. I work with a group of ladies at the local senior center each week on quilting projects. They scrape enough money together to put together their quilt top, and have some pride when it is finished. BUT then they send it to be professionally quilted because they fear doing it themselves. I would LOVE to show them that it isn’t rocket science, and let them see how easily they could do it themselves, and save hundreds of dollars in the process! I, too, would love to see how you use your walking foot for quilting. I’m always up for something new and different. How exciting! 🙂
