Ten years… and counting!

A couple of weeks ago I had a thought…

Yes, that is a rare thing, but I did it, I had a thought…and then I followed up on the thought and had a look back to see when was it that I wrote my first blog post?

Well, it was ten years ago today!

Julia had organized me a website and given me a few blogging tips, (I think Jonathan had given his advice too) and I wrote a blog post. It wasn’t very pretty. I didn’t really know how to resize my pictures or format the page. You can see it here. I had been on my first ever guild outing to the Gems of the Prairie in Peoria, IL. They had had Sharyn Craig visit the month before and were expecting another big name the next month and there I was on their stage with my quilts and the talk I’d finished writing the day before…

This is my 741st post. Some years I’ve written more than others. I could say I have a loyal readership, and I thank you for that, but I do not have a large readership! I just keep blogging anyway. It helps me stay focused and lets the world know that life goes on in Catherine’s quiltie-land and life is good…

After the excitement of the wedding weekend I decided it was time to get to my sewing room/studio. I had my cleaning service booked for Monday morning and I needed to look busy so I cleared up my space. You might have seen the before and after videos on my Instagram/Facebook feed?

I didn’t take any before photos but I did take a few “afters”.

Still clutter but at least now you can see the floor and cutting mat?I stole the vacuum for a few minutes and did the floor. The ironing board is free from junk! With the cutting mat visible, perhaps a new quilt was in order? There’s plenty of fabric in the drawers.I have started a new project. I pulled out some Kaffe Fassett collective bundles and a Free Spirit Designer Solid stack and paired things up.Ironing the fat quarters takes the longest time. I’m using some diluted Flatter spray to speed things along.

Lots of cutting and stitching. Careful pressing makes such a pretty back view!Looking good from the front too? I had a lady come over and buy some Ellana wool thread from me, and my bee was here yesterday afternoon. I don’t sew in the evening. Here’s where I was up to when I finished for the day yesterday. Ten twenty-four patch blocks made.I think I like the offset arrangement.

Today I’m headed West to Rockford to see Ruby and Benjamin. The weather forecast is good so we are planning a visit to the Japanese Gardens.

Don’t I have a great life? Here’s to the next ten years of adventures and blogging!

Your sewing room looks so inviting. I love the bright, cheerful yellow walls. With everything cleared off, it certainly was a great time to start a new quilt.
