Ready or Not?

Quilt Festival – Chicago starts tomorrow and I am signed up to be busy…

Signing up is the easy bit. I always remember that at about this point when I feel I should have my demo material completely packed, clothes picked out, handouts made, … and I’m not ready yet!

I signed up for two spots at Make It University™ on the show floor. My samples are made ready to leave on the sign up table. I have a cute yo-yo flower pin: three yo-yos, a button, some beads and a felt leaf with a pin back. We’ll be making these on Saturday afternoon at 1.30 pm.

DSC08383 My second project is a wool felt needle case. I have the needle cases all made, ready for appliqué and embellishment to make each one an original. We’ll be ready to go at 3.00 pm on Friday afternoon, which makes it technically my first project I guess?

Twenty five kits for each class, all neatly packaged, with instruction sheets too. The students get an hour to finish their projects so it’ll be heads down, but I’m sure it’ll be fun too!!

My time slots for Open Studios™ are:

Thursday, 10.00 – 12.00 will be Wrapped in Scraps. I’ll be making coil pots and table runners out of clothesline and fabric again! I hope that people won’t be too busy shopping top stop and look?

Thursday, 4.00 – 6.00 for African Folklore Embroidery. Chain stitch, wrappings and other fun stuff… Somewhere to sit after a long day, perhaps?

Friday, 12 – 2 is Walking Foot Quilting. We will get out of the ditch and find out how simple it is to get our quilts finished.

and

Saturday, 10 -12 I’ll be working on English Paper Piecing, both hexagons and clamshells. The joy is in the journey!

I haven’t quite got all my bits and pieces out yet. I’m sure I have plenty of stuff in my boxes? I might still need a few more things making…

My quilt Spring in the City will be in the Modern in the City exhibition. I added a hanging sleeve on Monday…

DSC07344I delivered Naperville Modern Quilt Guild’s submissions to the Convention Center yesterday. I’m looking forward to seeing them all hanging with the ones from the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild.

There will be pictures. It will be a good three days, and whether I’m ready or not Cheryl will be arriving at my door at 8.30 tomorrow morning (I know she’ll be early). I had better be ready!!
