Philanthropy sew in at Riverwalk Quilters Guild

Last night was our annual sew in to make quilts for donation at Riverwalk Quilters Guild. This year we were making rag quilts for Hesed House in Aurora.

By the time I got there everyone was hard at work…

Lots of people had brought their squares stitched ready to sew into rows.

The final step was fringing the seams.

Good scissors helped! There was a lot of stitching and a lot of socializing. I’m not sure how many quilts were completely finished but there were at least a dozen on the stage at the end of the evening.

Jean from our quilt bee, The Show and Tells, brought a top she finished last week. We discussed her possible settings at bee and she chose this super furrows setting.

Jean makes use of every last scrap for the wonderful quilts she gives away.

Today I finished my quilt for the Sewtopia challenge. Here’s a sneak peak…

By the time it was done it was dark outside. I’ll try and take some better pictures while it’s hanging up in Chicago. I’ve packed my bags for the sewing bit of the retreat. I’m still working on the clothes. It’ll get done because it wouldn’t be good if it didn’t…
