May (wool) butterfly and my excuse for being late…

If you follow me on Facebook then you might already have seen my pictures of the May butterfly/flying insect stitched in wool…

It started like this, wool pieces being appliquéd on a purple linen background, and finished like this, embroidered and embellished. Here’s a close up on the wing, filled in with button hole stitches.I caught up on a few of my recorded shows working away in the family room!

But what’s the excuse for me being almost two weeks behind schedule?

Apart from all the classes I’ve been teaching…

Well, there are those children of mine to visit…

Last Sunday Sheila flew in from California and Monday morning we set off for Waterloo to Joanne and John’s home.Good job they don’t live in that old barn! But it does make for a great photo op?

We picked up Joanne and Emily and got back on the road, headed to Chippewa Falls. I could bore you with  far too many of the 100 or so pictures I took of the cousins together but I’ll spare you and just give you this one.Two months old already!

Of course we couldn’t restrain ourselves to all things baby all the time. We boosted the economy at the Stitch Supply Co. in nearby Altoona.
We headed back home Wednesday, managing to avoid most of the rain along the way but taking a little detour to visit Mill House Quilts in Waunakee. What a fun few days!

So now I’m home for a little while, well this week at least, I’m going to stitch June’s butterfly and maybe a couple of other things too…

I added a new button at the side of this page, did you notice it? I’m going to be at Stitches Midwest in Schaumburg in August. If you are in the local area and want to take a class, or if you want to take a trip, I’m scheduled to teach seven workshops including a beginners and a more advanced embroidery class and a full day wool butterfly class. There are kits for all the handwork classes so supplies are easy… you know we will have a good time.

We’re back with clicks meaning prizes (for me) so, please, click on that button and have a look 🙂

Thank you for the pictures of the beautiful babies, two months already – and the butterfly is so nice too.
