June Flowers

It’s June already! I’ve been seeing lots of Instagram pictures of peonies recently so I thought I should share one as my featured image today! I had to rescue them before they got ground into the mud by the storms last weekend . I wasn’t sure the buds would open, but they did and they have been looking very pretty in my kitchen this week.

One of the things I have been working on since I returned from Iowa is some hand stitching. I bought several panels from Artistic Artifacts at Market. Judy had lots to choose from but the ones that caught my eye were Batiks by Hari Agung. They are imported from Indonesia and are all hand made originals.

They are beautiful in their own right but I am embellishing one of them with chain stitch and french knots,

I’ve added some bullion stitches and stem stitch too…

The panel is about 18′ square so I’ve a long way to go. The ones in my inventory are smaller. They sold well to the embroiderers in Muscatine. A very fun take along project for the summer?

Today I’m off to lunch with the Girls of May. We’re all a bit old to be considered girls and it’s June but I know it will be a good time…
