I’ve been a busy girl!

How comes the new class schedule always seems to sneak up on me as if by surprise? You’d think by now that I would be ready and waiting with finished class samples when Gina calls from Pieceful Heart Fabrics to schedule the next quarter…

Well as usual I had more ideas than finished projects when she phoned so I have been very busy. I still have 2 tops waiting to be quilted (look back tomorrow to see how I’ve done) and 2 projects to make… I’m waiting for the pattern for one of them but I do have some show and tell.

This is a series of cute little boxes made from the FabricOrigami pattern Small Treasures. You can make all 3 from two fat quarters of fabric. The upright triangular one was the most difficult to fold. They would be fun in novelty fabric as gift boxes. The flat triangle one is really fast and, made the right size, might be good for gift cards.

This one is a refillable journal cover from a pattern by Angela McIntyre of Laughing Cat Designs, distributed by Embellishment Village. I made it to fit a  wire-bound sketch book I had. It is embellished with various yarns twisted together and beads from a Bead Soup mix called “French Onion”. I have a collection of animal print fabrics so it was a no brainer, when I saw the pattern, which colorway to choose.

Not everything I make has to be for a class… I finished this next little quilt tonight while I was watching Hell’s Kitchen. I did make the basic quilt during a Quilter and Child class where we were making Doll Quilts using one of my own patterns. But then I have been adding the crazy stitch embroidery during the evenings off and on over the last few weeks. I used #8 pearl cotton (no strands to split and put back together). I have found some nice threads on my travels, including the variagated one in the border.

and a close-up..

I hope to be sewing bindings tomorrow evening!!
