Butterflies!

Not just buttons… I’ve been stitching butterflies!

I finished my Trip Around the World quilts back in April. They were a lot of work… lots of fun, but lots of hours stitching the embroideries, setting them into quilts, quilting the quilts and then adding binding, labels and hanging sleeves.

What to do next?

I haven’t just been keeping up with all my favorite TV programs!

I have been working on a series of butterflies and other flying insects. I’m not quite ready to quite reveal all just yet but it shouldn’t be too long now.

Here’s a sneak look at one of my embroideries. You might have seen it before? But now I’ve been working with wool too!In more than one color way…This last one uses the wool available from Sue Spargo that has matching Ellana wool/acrylic threads for the appliqué and linen fabrics for the background that I bought at Quilt Market. All the embroidery is stitched with the hand dyed threads from House of Embroidery that I sell when I am teaching. You can find them on line here.

The plan is to have the series finished by the end of the year and maybe even made into a wallhanging or two. I have some ideas… Then, I will be publishing the patterns here on my website, one a month as a free PDF download for you to try. Fabric choices, threads and all that will be up to you. If there is enough interest I’ll set up a Facebook group for us to share our progress. 2018 can be a happy stitching year?

Buttons, butterflies, whatever next?
