This afternoon I finished sewing the binding on this fun bright quilt I put together last week with the fabrics I bought when I was in Madison with the girls this spring.
I added an off-white fabric from PHF and just had fun costructing stripes of basic blocks.
I bought one third yard of each Free Spirit solid so there was not much left over to put into the stripe down the back.
I really like that Alexander Henry animal print!! How can you not love pink elephants and flowery hippos?
After teaching the Machine Quilting 1 class last weekend I used my best practices to make sure everything was straight and well basted. Then I could easily quilt simple lines across the top and some free motion motifs in the white space.
Why did I make the quilt? Good question. The truest answer is “because I could” but what will I do with it? Well, Ruby has a birthday in a few months. Maybe she will get it or maybe I will have made her something else before then.
I might even want to keep it here for myself.
Katherine, the bright colors on this quilt are such a good way to help children learn and the animals on the back, even better. Nicely done.
