My bags are waiting by the front door, ready for an early morning start tomorrow. Time to sit down and catch up on the trip I made the weekend before last?
I met Judy Gula, the owner of Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, VA many years ago… we were trying to work it out, it’s been at least thirteen years and probably more. It was finally time to pay a visit!!
I got myself to the airport early on the Thursday morning and flew in to National Airport, just across the river from the Mall. Selecting a seat on the left hand side of the plane gave me the best view.
These two pictures are taken from the plane across the Potomac River.
The Washington Monument, looking East, down the National Mall to the United States Capitol.

And the Tidal Basin, surrounded by the cherry blossom trees.

An Uber ride got me to the shop where I left my bags there before heading back to the hotel.
There were trees in full bloom by the hotel too!

It felt like I took lots of pictures but apparently I didn’t… No pictures of the all the wonderful goodness in the store…
I was in town to teach. Two days of Modern Machine Quilting. A full class of students busy on their own machines.

And a change of pace with a day of Beautiful Buttons, both Dorsets and Shirt Lace.

Lots of buttons!

Steve had been in town for a satellite show at the convention center the week before and he stayed on in town to keep me company. He enjoyed using the public transport system (and the Lime scooters) and had all sorts of adventures while I was in class. Dinner with Judy’s family and Chris from the store was lovely on the Saturday evening. We flew home together late Sunday.
Julia and family were here at this weekend for Easter. Julia updated my handouts while Matt installed a new light above the sink in the kitchen! The weather was not conducive to being outside, so several movies were watched and multiple episodes of Brain Games on Disney plus (not necessarily my first choice).
Today has been devoted to my last minute packing for this week’s adventure to Hartford, Connecticut for AQS Quiltweek. I think I have everything. I sent two boxes, totalling 53 pounds weight a couple of weeks ago. I make packing lists but for some reason I have two lists and they do not match exactly… I have decided to err on the side of caution and there might well be extra safety pins…
Always the adventure?
