A little free motion quilting

I’ve been doing a lot of walking foot quilting over the past few years but that doesn’t mean that I never attach my darning foot and put the feed dogs down!

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen pictures like this in the last couple of weeks,

or this,

as I’ve been stitching on a panel from Frond Design Studios that I brought back from Market.

I used my BERNINA 530 with my favorite free motion embroidery foot (#24). Too much fun!

And now it’s done!

Not really thread painting, just dense free motion quilting.

I wasn’t trying to add color, just texture.

There’s something about time spent in the zone!!

Love those pebbles.

Well, my bags are packed. We’re off to the airport in half an hour.

Tropical storm Bill is barreling his way through Texas and our flight to Little Rock is via Dallas. Everything in my luggage is wrapped in plastic. I’ve got two new books on my iPad, some knitting and my embroidery. I’ve packed my handouts and a change of clothes in my carry on bag. My first class is at 8.00 AM tomorrow…

Stay calm Catherine!

Sometimes we simply quilt/play with our thread and fabrics for the sheer delight of doing it! This looks one of those moments, and I understand entirely. You’ve reminded me again that I quilt for the joy of it, not the number of completions this month ~ ~ or this year!! Travel safe.
