Visiting the Illini Country Stitchers, part one

It’s been an interesting week!

It started with a little detour to the ER with Steve. He’s almost all better now and hopefully a little bit wiser… but it stopped me getting to my stitching for a day or so(!). I had plenty of non-stitchy things to do and Julia came to help, so by Thursday I was back on track and able to pack up the car as planned…

IMG_5763I headed South to Champaign-Urbana to the Illini Country Stitchers. What is it with these two name cities? They confuse me!

A two and a half hour drive through the flatlands of Illinois got me there and I found a happy bunch of quilters waiting for me.

Here’s one half of the gang, just before I started speaking.

The other half are today’s featured image at the top of the page. The fairy lights are a nice touch don’t you think?

After Lessons Learned while Quilting we had a short break before show and tell which took place down the other end of the hall. I was bit far away but you get the idea?

There were lots of super quilts on display, nearly all made for someone else, many for a philanthropic cause.

It was a lovely evening, after which I retired to my hotel to get ready for the next day.

Check back tomorrow for Friday’s fun workshop pictures…

You were a ray of sunshine, Catherine! Loved having dinner with you at Panera, listening to your stories and experiences on Thursday night and taking your class on Saturday! My Happy Scrappy is done and now just needs to be quilted! Thank you for coming to be with us!
