Village Quilters, Wheaton

On Monday I went to speak at Village Quilters in Wheaton. It was a nice surprise to see my friend Sue there. She took charge of my camera so I have some pictures…

But first we were able to enjoy Stephanie’s quilts as “featured member of the month”. She had brought a good number to share with us. Amongst them were several cat quilts…

including a quilter cat…

and other more realistic cats…

This one uses a Sharon Malec pattern to portray Stephanie’s own cats. Stephanie makes quilts with character. It was good to see them displayed.

So I gave my talk. I started off with 2 empty table and 3 full Sterilite tubs…

The tables gradually disappeared under a layer of quilts…

until the tubs were empty and the tables were buried…

The evening finished with Show and Tell. The quilters of Wheaton are very philanthropic. I have never seen so many quits made for donation to everything from Teen Parent Connection to missions In Africa. It was a good evening.

I am enjoying the Fall. Any excuse to get out for a walk with my camera and I am there.

While Sheila was visiting we went for a stroll on the Naperville Riverwalk. There were lots of interesting sights, including these steps that originally led from Washington Street to a home that has long since been torn down.

Morton Arboretum is a wonderful place to visit at this time of year. On a Saturday afternoon I prefer the West side, away from the crowds… here’s a peak through the trees from The Joy Path.

and the reason it’s always busy on a sunny afternoon in October…

The leaves are changing every day now. The trees in our yard are always late to drop but the rakes are ready…
