Sunny in California.

Well, I made it out here no problem. TSApre on the boarding pass makes security a breeze. Steve thinks it’s shorthand for little old lady but I’ll take it!

Lunch outside and a little stitching in the sun was wonderful. I’m not missing my boots one bit.

Yesterday  we headed to Road to California. It was busy. Last year was busy, but this year the aisles were packed.

There was a super view from upstairs while we stood in line to buy our usual California Pizza Kitchen boxed lunch.

We sat outside at one of those tables to eat. I did hear one lady commenting on being a little chilly but I was just fine in the low 70s temperature.

I sat and sewed in the African Folklore Embroidery booth for two hours in the afternoon. It was fun to meet lots of fellow embroiderers and share an intro to chain stitch with a few future stitchers.

It’s a big show and I didn’t actually get around all the vendors, let alone see the quilts but here’s what I came home with…

I bought machine needles from Superior, embroidery needles from Bohin, some cute animal print scissors and the show pin.

New this year was a Marketplace where different companies had their latest and best on display. We picked up Clover clips and new marking pens, a couple of little kits from Marcus and a fat quarter of Kona solid from Robert Kaufman. The cuddles pin was from Shannon Fabrics maker of Cuddles soft fabric. I traded for a spiralicious pin I just happened to have in my bag!

I’ve been playing with some embroidery stitches in preparation for some new classes. Here’s my work in progress.

I’m thinking circles might be more fun than straight lines for a stitch sample?

Two days relaxing and enjoying the mountain views and then we’ll be back at the show on Sunday. I’ll be in the AFLE booth again in the morning. In the afternoon I will make sure to see the quilts!
