Naperville Quilts! 2016 edition

It’s been three years since our last show but Riverwalk Quilters got it all together last weekend to put on a performance to be proud of!

I managed to stay out of the planning this time but I did have a booth.

I arrived early and set it all up with the aid of the vendor helpers. I was next to Val in Stitches so those are her bags on the left. Do you like my golden iron?IMG_6755I was going for a cozy living room feel with comfy chairs to sit on and chocolate for the weary. My DVDs were playing on a loop over on the right. I had thread, African Folklore Embroidery kits, more thread, gadgets, wool appliqué kits and patterns, and did I mention free chocolate?!!

I had a few minutes before the show started so I popped along to see the quilts.

I had three quilts on display. Here’s my AFLE Village Life quilt in good company with quilts by Yvette, Ruth, Darlene Carol and Sally.IMG_6742Carol and Sally had both finished their own AFLE designs. They looked great.

With around 300 quilts on display I didn’t have time to take pictures of everything but this little vignette caught my eye. Coat by Kathleen and quilts by Sharon and Carol.IMG_6738Out in the atrium things were looking good before the crowds arrived. Five raffle quilts and too many baskets to count!
IMG_6752I spent a happy two days in my booth. I saw lots of people I hadn’t seen in a long time. Some sat a while, some passed through quickly. Yes, I sold some stuff!

On Saturday I set up my machine and made some Wrapped in Scraps bowls.IMG_6764

My Sew-Ezi table was very popular as was the Stella light!! (Don’t forget the Fly Away Sweepstakes still going on over at Stella)

And just like that we were done for another couple of years. I was glad of Steve’s help at tear down time. I spent yesterday mostly recovering but today I need to get ready for my next adventure.

I’ll be leaving the house early on Wednesday morning to head to Salt Lake City for Quilt Market. Attending Market really helps me to focus and put my professional face on for another twelve months. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with my friend Pegg who moved to Utah last year and has promised to show me around…

Next Monday I’ll be flying on to Calgary for a little retreat in the Rockies followed by four days of fun at Heritage Park for their 21st Annual Festival of Quilts. I’m teaching two classes, em-ceeing their unique take on an Iron Quilt Challenge and speaking at the Gala Dinner.

Sounds like a good time? I’ll be away for eleven days. I’ve got lots of packing to do. The printer has been printing my hand outs. I’ve put some meals in the freezer for Steve!

There was just a little chocolate left after the show. Maybe one or two pieces will help…

Catherine, I was at the wonderful show! But, when I went to find you, there was such a crowd around your booth that I didn’t get close–and I have an idea it was for more than the chocolate ;-). Clearly, everything was wonderful! You all deserve a big “thank you” from all of us, who enjoyed the show so much! Nice job!

Jane, I saw you at a distance but then you disappeared! Sorry I didn’t get to say hello. Glad you enjoyed the show.
