My belated birthday present!

We had decided I needed a new laptop last December and it seemed like it would make a suitable birthday present?

Well, Steve and I never got around to going shopping and then I got busy… but then I saw an advert for a new rose gold MacBook. A pink laptop! Now that was something worth going to the Apple Store for!

We did a little on-line research before venturing down town and it took less than 15 minutes for the transaction in its entirety. It took a bit longer than that to transfer everything from the vintage machine but by Sunday afternoon it was all done.

Now all I needed was a new cover.

I brought this lovely bundle of solids from Birch Fabrics home from QuiltCon in February.IMG_6665Just what I needed.

After taking a few measurements for guidance I set to stitching and soon had this little improv piece put together.
IMG_6667Layering, quilting and binding didn’t take too long either. IMG_6669I added a few fly stitches to the front flap for fun and then sewed up the sides.

Ta-da! IMG_6685Just the right size.IMG_6682Too cute?IMG_6684Looks OK from the back too!IMG_6695Ready for travel.

The new MacBook is lighter than my old iPad. I’m getting used to the different feel of the keyboard.

And it’s PINK!!!

  3. While I love the improve piecing, the hand stitching really makes the piece!
