More Fun in California

After all the excitement on Thursday (and walking and shopping…) we stayed at home on Friday. Of course Sheila got straight to work on her latest project, custom quilting for a customer…

DSC06785 I was in charge of the TV remote… I stitched on my hexagon project. It is now over 45″ in diameter. I am beginning to plan some finishing touches!!

Yesterday (Saturday) we stitched some more, catching up on Master Chef episodes this time. We took a break for lunch in the sun, went for pedicures and got ready for a trip back to the convention center for Leora’s advanced class in African Folklore Embroidery.

We started with appliqué the AFLE way… I’ll be using that technique in the future!

Here is Lynette, admiring one student’s work.

DSC06787We moved onto adding raffia to our projects. Leora enjoyed showing us how to add a “bunch”.

DSC06799As always Sheila worked hard and was a good student. Here she is adding couched double criss-cross (herringbone) to her teapot design.

DSC06797I have to share a detail of Annette’s wonderful work.

DSC06796 Annette had brought her finished piece to the class. I am inspired to stitch.

Back to the show to collect my quilt this afternoon and then we are off to Vegas!

I’ve been stitching in Hawaii. Now you must teach me how to appliqué some of the big spaces I’m seeing on my snail! Enjoy the rest of your trip…I hear we have a big shock awaiting us weather wise!
