Where to start with today’s blogger? I was looking through my photographs and I came up with this one…
It’s Pokey Bolton, with her editor, Quilting Arts Magazine hat on, not quite sure what she should say when confronted with my most excellent friend Sheila, strutting her very best Hawaiian costume at Surviving the Runway, Quilt Festival Long Beach 2008 style!
Pokey moved on from Quilting Arts and Interweave Press to work for Quilts Inc. as Chief Creative Officer. One of her many innovations was the Open Studios areas. Who better to learn from than Pokey herself? Here she is, before the show opened, all set to go!
When Festival returned to Rosemont in 2013 I volunteered to work in the studios. After that Pokey asked me to record some slots with her, on what turned out to be her last season of Quilting Arts TV.
Here we are, ready to make some English paper pieced hexagons.
I recorded four segments that were aired for the first time in the spring this year. This is African Folklore Embroidery as seen on my own TV screen…
And that started the ball rolling… and now I have my own DVD!
Pokey has moved on again. She has launched a new business, Crafting a Life LLC, and is busy building an artists’ retreat center in Napa, California. She is traveling back and forth, getting things going, celebrating the season and much, much more so I owe her a very big “Thank You” for taking part in the blog hop today. I hope Pokey enjoyed the DVD that she was so instrumental in bringing into being.

I am dying to know how to do spirals with a walking foot..the *other* directions I could figure out, but the spirals have me stumped! :0

I would love to learn to wuilr with my walking foot! Currently I send everything “bigger than a breadbox” out for long-arm quilting. Would love to make a larger quilt entirely myself’
I have some simple place mats in progress. Would love a DVD to help with the quilting. Have learned how difficult a seemingly “easy” straight line can be, so look forward to learning new techniques.

I tried too early to see Pokey’s blog so went back again today. Love that she mentioned about “masculine” quilting lines. I am sure that her little nephew will love his new quilt. I am hoping that I will be one of the lucky winners of your new DVD!
