Le weekend

What’s up with the french title? Well, thank you for asking! I think it’s the lasting effect of watching Les Miserables yesterday afternoon… but why did the child have a Cockney accent?

Too much thinking.

So, let’s move swiftly on to quiltie things!

Last Wednesday there were only two people signed up for my Fuse like McKenna class at Pieceful Heart Fabrics… By the end of the day Thursday, thanks to an e-mail blast from Gina, we had a full roster of eight with a wait list started on Friday.

That meant I had a fun time on Saturday. We measured, traced, fused, cut, assembled and lunched…

on our way to some cute little raccoons,

and other things! A great start but some distance still to go. I’m hoping to see some completed projects before Christmas?

I was home in time to celebrate Palm Sunday with Steve (and several hundred others) at Community Christian Church on Saturday evening so on Sunday morning I set to work on my second Riverwalk piece.

Previous planning and thinking meant that several hours later I had made this…

and here’s another pic to show the dimension on the leaf…

The bricks are made out of wool, sewn down by machine. The maple leaf has inn-spire interfacing inside and was drawn from the Leaf Bowl Pattern pattern from Poorhouse Quilt Designs. Inn-spire is moldable when warm so I was able to crinkle the leaf just enough before stitching it onto the pathway.

We have a dimensional challenge due at Fiber Divas tonight so I am thinking my piece will work for that too. Sounds good to me!

Now, what to do for the rest of the day until then?

    Hey Catherine,
I love the feel or texture of the bricks. The slight separation between them gives the piece such depth. The leaf is pretty great too. Gives me more reason to stop delaying the unpacking and start sewing.
